a month agoAVOID! I was here a few days ago and noticed an immediate hostility towards the customers from the staff.. Firstly, a group of 3 school girls were stopped from entering together, I assume to prevent shoplifting but it was very odd and I could see that the girls were quite shocked and confused by it. Then, I was waiting in the queue, the line was messy but there was an older lady perhaps in her 70s/80s standing, waiting to be served. The man at the till completely ignored her. When it was my turn to be served, she placed her items on the counter AGAIN (I'd seen her standing there for quite some time, even before I joined the queue). He ignored her again so I made a point of saying, 'I think this lady is waiting to be served'. He dismissively turned his attention to her and when she went to pay with a ten pound note, he took his sweet time analysing it to see if it was fake, by which she was clearly upset. He was SO RUDE to her!! I have to mention, I'm a very light skinned woman so he was "nice" to me but that irked me even more. How can you have a shop that serves a certain demographic of already marginalised people and treat people with such disrepect when they choose to spend their money in your store? Disgusting behaviour, they need a huge overall in their management and readjustment in attitude toward their customer base. I only went because I couldn't find what I needed in other afro hair shops, but I will be sure to avoid this place in the future.

a month agoI don't usually go to Paks for my hair products as the shopping experience is usually negative. However, I stopped by recently,as I needed eucryl tooth powder. While, I was looking for the item, a man positioned at the door was following me. He kept his distance but was watching/ following me from the end of the aisle. At the other end of the aisle, the lady that was stationed by wigs was also monitoring me. She kept pacing up and down. I felt very uncomfortable. This is the exact reason why I stopped going to Paks. They treat customers like criminals. Lastly, if you want good customer service, go to Shaba, also in dalston. Prices are slightly cheaper than paks and they are always on hand to help and don't treat you like a second class citizen. Another option is Amazon, prices are also cheaper if you subscribe for products (eg. Deliver every 6 months) and you can cancel any time.

a month agoCustomer service is poor. As I was walking out if the store, the alarm went off and one of the customer assistant (short bald headed man) took the products I had already paid for out of my hands. He didn't even apologize after I explained I already paid for it. I no longer shop there.
